Old friend Adrienne DeGuere (the only one of my friends I know of who has her own imdb page.) recently got in touch with me. She had the some pictures from the blissful days when I had just gotten out of the U.S. Navy and had managed to get into St. John's College. The contrast between Navy and college at St. J's made portions of the St. J's experience damn near transcendently, kick-assedly fun. This was a paradise beyond my wildest imaginings relative to the experience of being on an aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Oman as I had been a year or two before these pictures were taken.
Archival note:Adrienne's pictures are between 17-and 20 years old.
I am moved to try and give these pictures titles so this first one I will call:
"I Do Not Remember This Haircut but I Am Truly Impressed by It Now"
Or alternatively,
"Why Am I Holding An Orange Crayon, and Does it Have Anything to Do with My Very Very Dilated Pupils?"
And this is me, as I am now, at 1:21 PM January, 21st 2008, after a morning of researching early modern political theory. Let's call this one
"Politics Isn't Pretty"
This one is of my good friend Chris Hadley SJ (that means he's now a Jesuit Priest) Chris is living over in Cambridge doing work at the Weston Theological Seminary. We are getting together for dinner on Wednesday where I plan to take a photo of him to post here for comparison.
The title "The Spirit of St. Ignatius" suggests itself for this photo.
And this one is of Pete Looney, and I include it because he was a very great friend and I am hoping that he sits down one day and googles his own name, Pete Looney, and finds his picture here with a message to him, Pete Looney, telling him to drop an email to old friend and Freshman year roommate, George.
I call this one, you guessed it, "Pete Looney"

That is a truly awesome haircut!

You were holding a crayon to mark photos in my album that I was to make copies for you (the marks are still there)...I probably never did. Oh well, 20 years isn't too late, right? Oh, and I am so proud to have my own imbd page...lol!

Politics notwithstanding, you've aged magnificently.

Pete is a good guy. He was a good friend of mine back in high school.
