Lil' Bear

I was trying to remember who it was that hat reminded me of... Not that I was ever a big fan of the Crimson Huskerhawks of Louisabama State. Still, its one of those cultural icons " the coach" and for some reason the great legend Bear Bryant is a name I recognize like Joe Paterno, Woody Hayes or Tom Landry. Rich pointed out that Lila's hat is a knock off of the signature hat of ole' Bear, not that either of us give a happy goddamn about the Tennessee Jackalopes and their immortal coach. We simply remember an absurd array of facts and details that most people have the good sense to forget. (And RIch does this on a level I marvel at, and without any apparent neurological dysfunction.) I often have people complain to me that they wish they remembered facts like I do, but I have to point out that this is a mixed blessing in so far as it doesn't mean I don't routinely forget my passwords, sun glasses, car keys and cell phone (my Sioux Indian name is Leaves the House Five Times) but I do get to remember all kinds of things I have no need to to remember at all.

Well, Typepad my loathsome web host is creating so many technical difficulties that posting these pictures and typing the title and this line has taken four hours. I have to go smash something now, but I at least wanted to post these pictures. These are mostly of the kids and the Beach the first couple of days of the trip. In subsequent posts I will post other pictures from the rest of the two weeks. Great trip. Deb and I miss all of you. (Well, those of you in Oregon who we just visited anyway.) Cheers. PS.
